Next to low back pain, Neck Pain is the second most common complaint that we see in our office. Also, like back pain Neck Pain is always the result of inflammation of the soft tissues.
Example of soft tissues are:
- Nerves
- Muscles
- Ligaments
- Muscles
Inflammation is most treated by either OTC or prescribed anti-inflammatory medication. While this approach is effective for temporarily suppressing the symptoms, it may not get to the actual cause of the pain.
In Chiropractic, we believe that pain is the body’s way of asking for help. It is your body talking to you and our job is to listen to your body and correct the cause as well as stop the pain.
The most common causes of Neck Pain that we see are:
- Chronic Forward Head Tilt (see pain and posture page)
- Whiplash Injuries
- Disc injuries
- Degenerative Disc Disease
- Pinched Nerve
- Muscle Spasm
- Poor Posture
- Flat Feet (yes, the feet can make your neck hurt)
Our evaluation will determine what type of Neck Pain you have and what is causing it. If we determine that we cannot help you, we will refer you to the proper professional for treatment.
