Rice and Quinoa

  • Basmati Rice 1/2 cup
  • Quinoa 1/4 cup
  • cardamon 5 pods
  • cinnamon 2 small sticks
  • clove 4 pieces
  • bay leaf 2 pieces
  • salt 1 tsp

Method of cooking

Wash rice and quinoa, add about five cups of water in a medium size pot. Add crushed cardamon, clove, salt and bay leaf. bring to a boil and then reduce heat, cook for 9 mnts, drain it on to a col-lander. let stand and drain for 6-7 minutes, serve warm.

Most basmati rice cooks in about 9-10 mnts which is the same cooking time for quinoa.

If you are trying to avoid rice and need more protein make it 50/50 rice and quinoa.
